Admission Terms & Conditions Policy
Applicable to the Joint Certification Programmes and Add-On Courses in Media conducted in academic collaboration with Partner Colleges
1. Definitions
1.1 In this document:
(a) “NRAI”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean NRAI School of Mass Communication, having its office at M-161/1A, Gautam Nagar, Besides Axis Bank, Near Green Park Metro Station Gate No. 2, New Delhi 110049.
(b) “Partner College” means the college of the University of Delhi with which NRAI conducts a particular Programme under an academic collaboration, including Hansraj College, Miranda House and Daulat Ram College, as identified in the prospectus for that Programme.
(c ) “Programme” means the certificate or diploma course offered by NRAI under a Joint Certification Programme, as described in the prospectus applicable to that Programme.
(d) “Applicant” means a person who submits an Application Form for a Programme.
(e) “Student” means an Applicant whose admission has been confirmed by NRAI.
(f) “Application Form” means the online or physical admission form prescribed by NRAI, together with all declarations and documents submitted with it.
(g) “Commencement Date” means the date notified by NRAI as the date on which classes for the relevant batch begin, whether the first session is held online or offline.
(h) “Registration Fee” means the one-time admission and registration charge specified in the prospectus, presently INR 5,000, or the equivalent amount notified for international applicants.
(i) “Tuition Fee” means the fee for academic instruction for a Semester or, for Programmes not divided into semesters, for the full duration of the Programme.
(j) “Semester” means a period of six months of instruction, where the Programme is structured in semesters.
(k) “Session” means a single scheduled class, whether conducted online or offline.
(l) “Batch” means the group of Students admitted to a particular Programme at a particular Partner College for a particular intake, subject to the seat cap notified for that intake.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
2.1 These Terms form a binding agreement between NRAI and the Applicant. They apply in addition to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy published on our website.
2.2 By submitting an Application Form, the Applicant confirms that these Terms have been read and understood, and that the Applicant accepts them.
2.3 These Terms, the prospectus for the relevant Programme, the fee schedule and the Application Form together constitute the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the admission. No verbal statement, assurance, representation or commitment made by any counsellor, agent, faculty member, employee or representative of NRAI or of a Partner College forms part of this agreement unless it is recorded in writing and signed by an authorised signatory of NRAI.
2.4 Where the Applicant is below 18 years of age on the date of application, the Application Form must be countersigned by a parent or lawful guardian, who accepts these Terms jointly with the Applicant and is jointly responsible for payment of fees. NRAI will not confirm the admission of an Applicant below 18 years of age without such countersignature.
2.5 Admission is offered on merit and is always subject to availability of seats in the relevant Batch. Submission of an Application Form does not by itself create any right to admission.
3. Nature of the Programme and certification
3.1 The Programmes are skill-based, vocational, add-on programmes. They are not degree programmes of the University of Delhi and do not carry any credit towards, or exemption from, any degree, diploma or qualification awarded by the University of Delhi or by any Partner College.
3.2 On successful completion, including satisfaction of the attendance, assessment and conduct requirements, the Student will be awarded a joint certificate of the Partner College and NRAI. Certification is not automatic on payment of fees.
3.3 NRAI provides career guidance, industry exposure, internship facilitation and placement assistance. NRAI does not guarantee, and does not represent that it guarantees, any internship, placement, employment, remuneration, media exposure or career outcome.Any list of recruiters, media organisations or production houses appearing in any prospectus, brochure, advertisement or website content is indicative of the sectors in which past students have worked and is not an assurance of recruitment.
3.4 Participation of Students in any film, documentary or production project is at the discretion of the production concerned and is not a guaranteed component of any Programme.
4. Fees and payment
4.1 The Registration Fee and the Tuition Fee for each Programme are set out in the prospectus and in the fee schedule published on our website.
4.2 The Registration Fee is payable at the time of confirmation of admission. Where a Programme is structured in semesters, the Tuition Fee is payable per Semester, and may be paid in two equal instalments on the dates notified by NRAI.
4.3 Applicants must remit the fees within the period notified at the time of the admission offer. If payment is not received within that period, the offer of admission lapses automatically and the seat may be allotted to another Applicant.
4.4 All fees are payable by online transfer, cheque or demand draft in favour of NRAI. Cash payments will not be accepted, and NRAI is not responsible for any amount paid to any individual otherwise than into its notified bank account.
4.5 Fees are exclusive of applicable taxes, which will be charged at the prevailing rate where payable.
4.6 Examination fees, re-assessment fees, certificate re-issue charges, study material, equipment charges and the cost of optional field visits are charged separately and are notified in advance.
4.7 A Student whose fees are in arrears may be barred from attending Sessions, appearing in assessments or receiving the certificate, until the arrears are cleared.
5. Cancellation and refund of fees
5A. Registration Fee
5A.1 The Registration Fee is charged for processing the application, verification of documents, enrolment and registration with the Partner College, issue of identity credentials and reservation of a seat in a capped Batch. It is non-refundable and non-transferable once admission has been confirmed and a seat allotted.
5A.2 The Registration Fee will be refunded in full only where NRAI does not confirm the admission, or where NRAI withdraws or cancels the Batch under clause 7.
5B. Tuition Fee: refund on withdrawal by the Student
5B.1 A Student who wishes to withdraw must submit a written application for withdrawal, signed by the Student and, where applicable, the guardian, to the Programme Coordinator, or by e-mail to nraiproduction@gmail.com. The date on which NRAI receives that written application is the date used to determine the refund entitlement. Absence from Sessions, non-attendance or verbal intimation does not constitute withdrawal.
5B.2 Subject to clauses 5C and 5D, the refund of Tuition Fee for the current Semester will be calculated as follows:

5B.3 Seat Forfeiture Charge. Seats in each Batch are capped, are allotted at the Partner College premises against a fixed allocation, and cannot be filled by another Applicant once instruction has begun. Faculty engagement, studio and equipment booking, Partner College charges and administrative costs for the full Semester are committed by NRAI on the Commencement Date and are not recoverable on a withdrawal. The parties therefore agree that a charge equal to 25% of the Semester Tuition Fee represents a genuine and reasonable pre-estimate of the loss suffered by NRAI on a withdrawal after the Commencement Date, and that this charge is a reasonable measure of compensation and not a penalty.
5B.4 Where a Student has paid Tuition Fee for a future Semester or a future instalment period that has not commenced as on the date of the withdrawal application, that amount is refundable in full, less INR 1,000 as processing charge, irrespective of the slab in clause 5B.2 that applies to the current Semester.
5B.5 Where a Programme is not divided into semesters, references in this clause 5B to a Semester are read as references to the full duration of the Programme, and the Commencement Date is the date on which that Programme begins.
5C. Further deductions
5C.1 The following will be deducted from any refund payable under clause 5B:
(a) any amount already remitted by NRAI to the Partner College in respect of the Student’s enrolment, to the extent the Partner College does not refund it to NRAI;
(b) the notified cost of any study material, kit, equipment or uniform issued to the Student and not returned in resaleable condition within seven days of the withdrawal application;
(c) any fee, fine or other amount due from the Student to NRAI or to the Partner College; and
(d) applicable taxes already deposited with the authorities and not recoverable by NRAI.
5C.2 Caution money and refundable security deposits, where charged, are not treated as fees and are refunded in full after adjustment of any dues.
5D. No refund in certain cases
5D.1 No refund of Registration Fee or Tuition Fee is payable where:
(a) the Student’s admission or continuation is terminated on grounds of misconduct, indiscipline, breach of the code of conduct of NRAI or of the Partner College, or expulsion or rustication by the Partner College or the University;
(b) the admission is cancelled because the Student submitted false, forged or misleading information or documents, or does not in fact meet the eligibility criteria;
(c) the Student has completed the Semester or the Programme, or has been issued the certificate; or
(d) the Student is unable to attend Sessions for personal reasons but has not submitted a written withdrawal application under clause 5B.1, in which case the refund, if any, is determined by the date of the written application and not by the date the Student stopped attending.
5D.2 Dissatisfaction with faculty allocation, batch timing, peer group, teaching style or subject difficulty does not by itself entitle a Student to a refund outside the schedule in clause 5B.
5E. Deferral and transfer as an alternative to refund
5E.1 In place of a refund, a Student may apply once to:
(a) defer admission to the immediately following intake of the same Programme; or
(b) transfer to a different Programme offered by NRAI, subject to eligibility, seat availability and payment of any difference in fees.
5E.2 An application under clause 5E.1 must be made within 30 days of the Commencement Date. If it is accepted, the Registration Fee and the Tuition Fee paid are carried forward in full and no Seat Forfeiture Charge is levied. A deferral or transfer may be availed once only, and the carried-forward amount lapses if the Student does not join the deferred or transferred Programme.
5F. Refund process
5F.1 Approved refunds are paid within fifteen working days of receipt of the complete withdrawal application together with the original fee receipt and the bank details of the payer.
5F.2 Refunds are paid only by electronic transfer to the bank account from which the fee was received, or to the account of the parent or guardian who paid it. Refunds are not paid in cash or to any third party.
6. Attendance, assessment and conduct
6.1 A Student must maintain the minimum attendance notified for the Programme, which is presently 80% of Sessions, to be eligible for assessment and certification.
6.2 Students must comply with the code of conduct, discipline rules, dress code, safety rules and premises rules of NRAI and of the Partner College. The Partner College reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including expulsion from the Programme, against any Student violating its discipline.
6.3 NRAI may suspend or terminate a Student’s enrolment for misconduct, harassment, damage to property or equipment, unauthorised recording or circulation of Sessions, misrepresentation, or non-payment of fees, after giving the Student an opportunity to be heard.
6.4 Students are responsible for equipment issued to them and for the cost of loss or damage caused otherwise than by fair wear and tear.
7. Changes to the Programme and cancellation by NRAI
7.1 NRAI may, for academic or operational reasons, change faculty, session timings, sequence of modules, mode of delivery between online and offline, venue within Delhi, or the schedule of field visits, without that constituting a deficiency in service, provided the overall content and duration of the Programme are substantially maintained.
7.2 If NRAI cancels a Batch before the Commencement Date, or discontinues a Programme after it begins, the Student is entitled to a full refund of the Registration Fee and of the Tuition Fee for the unexpired portion of the Semester, calculated on a pro-rata basis by reference to Sessions actually delivered. This is the Student’s sole remedy in that event.
7.3 NRAI is not liable for suspension, delay or curtailment of Sessions caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including acts of government, orders of the Partner College or the University, closure of premises, natural events, epidemic, civil disturbance or failure of public infrastructure. In such cases NRAI will use reasonable efforts to reschedule the affected Sessions or to deliver them online, and rescheduling in this manner does not give rise to any refund entitlement.
8. Intellectual property and recordings
8.1 All course material, recordings, presentations, notes, assignments and question papers supplied in the course of a Programme are the property of NRAI or of its licensors. They are supplied to the Student for personal study only.
8.2 Students may not record, photograph, reproduce, upload, share or commercially exploit any Session or course material without the prior written permission of NRAI.
8.3 Work produced by a Student during the Programme using NRAI facilities may be used by NRAI and the Partner College for academic, archival and promotional purposes, with credit to the Student. The Student retains authorship of their own work.
8.4 NRAI may photograph or film Sessions, workshops and events for academic and promotional use. A Student who does not wish to appear in such material may notify NRAI in writing at any time, and NRAI will make reasonable efforts to exclude the Student from future material.
9. Personal data
9.1 Personal data submitted by Applicants and Students is collected, used and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable Indian data protection law.
9.2 Data is used for processing the application, administering the Programme, sharing enrolment and result information with the Partner College and the University where required, issuing certificates, facilitating internships and placements, and for communications about the Programme.
9.3 Applicants may submit any government-issued photograph identity document for identity verification.
10. Relationship with the Partner College
10.1 NRAI and the Partner College collaborate on academic delivery and joint certification. Each is responsible for its own acts and omissions. The Partner College is not responsible for the collection, retention or refund of fees payable to NRAI, and NRAI is not responsible for the internal rules, decisions or disciplinary actions of the Partner College.
10.2 Any claim relating to fees, admission or refund must be made against NRAI.
11. Grievance redressal
11.1 Applicants and Students may raise any grievance relating to admission, fees, refunds, course delivery or conduct with NRAI by e-mail at nraiproduction@gmail.com or by WhatsApp message at +91 9899045628. NRAI will respond within a reasonable timeline.
11.2 A Student who is not satisfied with the response may escalate the matter in writing to the Director, NRAI School of Mass Communication, at M-161/1A, Gautam Nagar, Besides Axis Bank, Near Green Park Metro Station Gate No. 2, New Delhi 110049.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
12.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
12.2 The courts at New Delhi have jurisdiction in respect of any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
13. General
13.1 NRAI may amend these Terms from time to time. The version in force on the date of submission of the Application Form governs that admission, except where a change is required by law or by a direction of a regulator or of the Partner College.
13.2 If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force, and the invalid provision is to be read down to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid.
13.3 A failure or delay by NRAI in enforcing any provision is not a waiver of it.
13.4 These Terms are executed in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only.
